German Potato Pancakes

This is a German favorite of ours potato pancakes or "kartoffel pfann kuchen". They are ridiculously delicious, especially with ketchup weirdly enough. You just grate some potatoes add some flour, eggs, and seasonings to make them. Pro tip is to save bacon grease and use that instead of pam or what-not it gives it lots of flavor.
It's a perfect meal on a cold Winter's night-its hot, hearty, and expands in your stomach. It also makes me feel like I'm getting to know my German heritage! Well happy rest of the holidays, and a very happy New Years "oder Glückliche neue Jahre"!

The 4th of July

Me failing at American Gothic.

So up above is Ryan and Fanny making peach pie for the 4th. I had a really great 4th of July it included; Mainly searching for horses on minecraft, also being entertained by Ben, Swimming, making a awesome Disney play list and listening to it all day, and little pop-its! (the world is not right when you can't even stuff up on the 4th) How was your 4th?

The minecraft cake I made for my brother, and the party he was having. Actually not that hard, just yellow cake in a square with white frosting! I personally thought it tasted real good. Sadly I didn't get to go to the party because I was out in Lawrence night swimming still fun.

And today we had some super adorable little kids over. You can't see Mary in this picture which I apologize for but oh well. So now your all caught up on my life, Glückliche schwimmen.

Easter Activities

Ben has decided he loves Bunny Cakes and can't wait to try them!

Well this was Easter, and we made Bunny cake and ate ham and all the quintessential Easter things! As you can see we couldn't really get a picture that was good of all of us. ( oh well ) Bunny Cakes are a kind of tradition. My Grandma has made one most every year and this year I helped her. We used Devils food cake for ours cause we all love chocolate, but basically all you do is you make the cake in two 8 in. cake tins and then you just cut them and cover them in frosting and candy! Anyways it's a beautiful day and I want to get out there. I'll try and blog again soon.

Decorating the Tree with Spritz Cookies

Yesterday I took on Spritz cookies. Delicious but extremely hard and time consuming. I started the little project at 11.00 and finished at 3.30! What happened was the way the spritz cookie maker works is it pushs it out but if theres nothing to stick to it will just stay in the maker-I was using parchment paper so it didn't stick! But my brother shed some light on the subject and it all worked out in the end. Plus they were much apreciated so that makes it all worth it! Then today we decoated the tree with my little nephew Ben! Well I've got to go Ba-Bye!

Little ben dressed up as Albert Einstein!

On Halloween we had a party With a few friends and some family. ( Including my nephew Benjamin. ) We had dinner which was a whole bunch of stuff including Chile, corn chowder, bread, cinnamon jello, owl cupcakes, and many other things. Anyways afterwards we trick or treated around the block and came home.  Then some of Paul's friends got here and they went trick or treating to. A little after we came home Stephanie, Ben Beth, and Paul got home and we all crowded around Ben as he chuckled and showed off! Then Paul and his friends ( Elimar, Arel, and Micheal ) went to go get Dark Shadows which we then watched. I thought it was pretty good! Anyways that's it for now, Goodbye
